Now, where was I?

So...the Ebay stuff has all been shipped away to other loving homes. The closets appear to be a little bit neater, and I've got some extra spending cash in my pockets....I even bought my hubby a portable GPS--which we've lovingly named Gertrude.

Yes, we name things. We name cars, and obviously silly things like GPS systems. We have an SUV named Brutis, and Rick's car is named Goldie. Since we've been married, we've driven Chuck, Hottie, Murry, Blitzen, Dash, Mean Green, and now Brutis and Goldie. What's that?? We have too much time on our hands, AND we're nerds??? I couldn't agree more!

What in the world did we ever do without a GPS? I'm sure I will never use a mapsco again. I love Gertrude's sweet little voice, "Turn right in 2.2 miles." And she's even polite when I miss a turn. She kindly says, "Recalculating." Rick and I giggle at what we think Gertrude really wants to say when we miss a turn.

Other than Ebaying, buying GPS's, and naming things....it's been a busy week of vomit and poop clean-up around here. Yummy, I know. Baylor got the worst of it, but she's up and at'em again.

The boys started their first season of soccer this week. I'm officially a "soccer mom." I've ALWAYS wanted to be a "soccer mom." Now that I am, I'm not sure what all the hype was about.

I'm off to watch American Idol. And now that I've confessed to naming cars and to watching American Idol, I'm sure all of you will be praying for me diligently this week. Thanks!!

I'm still here.

This week, I've kept busy selling stuff on Ebay. With 4 kiddos, I sell A LOT of stuff. So, I'm trying to stay true to the whole "trying to get organized" part of my New Year's resolution. (Now, the "I'm going to lose 20 lbs" had better get into action quickly before it's a distant thought.)

I found Piper giggling on the couch tonight. She was laughing pretty hard. There was no t.v. on. No sibbling around to humor her. No books, toys, etc. So, I asked her what was so funny? As she giggled again she said, "My buns keep burping." To say the least, she wasn't the only giggling after that.

What a testimony!!

I'm not sure how I came across this site--though I'm sure GOD had a little something to do with it. It reminded me of how very precious and temporary this life is--and how much better, as born-again believers our eternal life will be. It's devastating to watch a family go through the heart-wrenching pain of losing a child, but this father showed such love for his son and his heavenly father at the son's memorial service. When you have 20-30 minutes to watch this, it will be well worth it. They are in 3 segments. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

****If these sites don't pull up, you can go to www.youtube.com and type in Rick Burgess or Bronner Burgess. Then you will see the 3 memorial sites. ****

BRRRR....

First things first....I'm not very fond of "the groundhog" this year. Could they just have pretended that he didn't see his shadow. At least once every 10 years, it should be mandatory for him to NOT see his shadow. Oh well!! I'm sure in mid-July, I'll be wishing for these cold months once again.

We're getting ready for the BIG game (aka The Superbowl) tomorrow. I usually (with a great record) pick the winning team by their uniform. Tomorrow will be more difficult in that both teams wear red, white, and blue. SO...until I see their uniforms on them tomorrow, I just can't tell you who's going to win. Hudson is a die-hard Patriots fan, Rick's cheering for the underdogs. Hudson cheers for his team as long as they are winning. He's a wishy-washy football fan.

Hudson and I were sitting on the couch last night. For the second time, in a couple of months, he said, "Mom, do you know that I'm going to be driving in 9 years?" Excuse me, what???? The first 6 years of his life have gone by so quickly. I'm sure the next 9 will too. So this weekend, the t.v.'s been off....not much computing. We've played games, colored pictures, read books. I'm going to enjoy every single solitary moment that God lends them to me....each and every one.
